Why Essence of Perception?

It comes from George Berkeley's quote that "essence is perception", an existentialist belief that all that exists in the world is your experience and perception of things. You cannot be sure that anything else exists except for your own thoughts. Are you sure that other people are real and think?

It's a rather Buddhist idea. The Buddhists famously say that the world is a great hazy smoke which covers up the underlying truth of reality. The truth? Nothing exists.

I prefer to think of life in the way Native Americans describe it; that everything exists within the medicine wheel, all that you know, and all that you don't, all that you see, and all that is invisible. For everything you learn, you discover there is an equal part that you still have yet to learn. It's a very balanced approach to thinking. Everything is a part of the wheel of life; interconnected.

"Clear and sweet is my soul, and clear and sweet is all that is not my soul" -Walt Whitman

We can all learn from this statement by Uncle Walt. We should be more in touch with ourselves, and learn to love and accept everything and everyone for what they are instead of wishing them to be different.
